Year-round classes for youth
Category: Archery Class - Youth

Fairfield Community Services Department offers year round classes for novice archers 8 to 17 years old. Held in a grassy area of Alan Wit Park in spring, summer, and fall; then, in the atheletic facility in the park during the winter, each class is 4-sessions each month.

In their first 4-session class, participants learn safety rules and procedures, proper use and care of basic archery equipment, basic archery form and the steps to achieve it, scoring procedures, and range etiquette. Under the instructor’s guidance, they work toward developing proper form.

In subsequent classes, continuing youth archers participate in the USA Archery Junior Olympic Achievement Development (JOAD) program as members of the Solano Archery JOAD club. The JOAD program recognizes achievement through a graduated ranking system in which individuals earn successive JOAD rank as their skill and score improves. Archery Solano celebrates their progress with certificates of achievement.
